"So we have a fight on our hands to push forward the course of liberty. It is never been any different. So let's get on with it and make sure we mix it up with as much foot-stamping rock music as possible. Onward and upward!"

Rita confirms it…

I will probably get it in the shorts again for saying this but I will say it anyway. Rita has made even more clear what Katrina made bloody obvious. Re-building the below sea level parts of NOLA would not only be idiotic but irresposible. Wasting American tax-payers money on such a white elephant is foolish in extremis. The parts of NOLA that are above sea-level (and escaped most of the damage) should be retained and continue to operate as NOLA; but the low-lying areas around should be returned to their swampy natural state. This will not only prevent further loss of life but will save the American tax-payer millions and possibly billions of dollars.

What really gets on my nerves is people who build in flood-plains, don’t ensure themselves (because no insurance company is dumb enough to give them cover) and then whinge when they lose everything. NOLA residents in those areas should be allowed to return to get their belongings that survived and then helped to relocate somewhere sane. Misplaced nostalgia that gets people killed is incredibly foolish.

Futhermore, the federal goverment should help LA to clean up its well-deserved image as the most currupt place in the US. Those two hurricanes should mark a new start for the state that has been shackled by the yoke of curruption, dishonesty and nepotism.

Americans are right to give their money to help victims of the storms in LA and NOLA, as they are to help victims in the other states. However Americans have every right to expect their hard-earned tax-money is well spent by the federal government. THe polulace has a right to know that their monies are not heading down a giant plug-hole enriching the criminal and not helping those in need.

NOLA should survive but no where near in the state that it existed in before the first hurricane hit.
